Students In Action!

Weed High School students, parents, and staff have the mutual confidence that when a student receives a WHS diploma, they are college & career ready -- meaning they have a plan and they have the skills and resources to implement that plan because of the experiences they have had at our school and within our community.

Change in the bus route starts on 3/27

For the fourth quarter, starting on Monday, March 27, we are going to change our bus departure time on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to 4:10 instead of 3:10. Students will be arriving home approximately one hour later than their currently scheduled time. We are piloting this change so we can provide all students with the opportunity to spend time in our after school study and tutoring program. This program is designed to help students get homework completed and receiving tutoring as needed to prepare for tests and quizzes. The program will be supervised by WHS staff and student tutors.

Please encourage your students to take advantage of this opportunity to get help and spend supervised time studying.

The WHS tiny house made its debut at the Sportsmen's Expo at the Yreka Fairgrounds.  The construction class students and teacher, Mr. Zeller, gave a great presentation.  The tiny house is available for purchase.  Contact WHS for more info!

No Snow Day After Spring Break

Remember those snowy days in January when we missed school?  Well, the bad news is we have to make one of them up.  So, you guessed it, this means we’re not having a snow day after Easter vacation. Plan on being back at school on April 17th

Work hard and be on time!

Weed High School is kicking off a six-week project focusing on employability, or soft, skills.  Examples of these types of skills include: work ethic, being coachable, enthusiasm, teamwork, self-starter, timeliness, good communication, problem-solving, and willingness to learn. During their advisory period, students will be learning about these skills and then they will create their own Individualized Skills Report Card, using what they’ve learned and how it applies to their current focus for college and career readiness.  Students will also be discussing their skills report card with our business and industry community members when they go on their job shadow experience and participate in the interview fair.   This week, CalFire Captain Matt Hill spoke with our students about the importance of having positive work habits.  He exhorted the students to “be on time for a start time of 8:00 means you arrive at 7:45,” and on how important it is to have integrity – be honest, tell the truth.
